Yaounde: Finance Minister in fresh attack
Hon. Jean Michel Nintcheu of the Social Democratic Front has launched a scathing attack on Finance Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey. Speaking during the plenary session on Thursday 15 June 2017, the SDF MP said the government through its public finance management policy is throwing the country into the mouths of financial predators.
Jean Michel Nintcheu criticized the management of public finances by the Biya Francophone regime headed by Finance Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey. The Honorable Jean Michel Nintcheu, could not remain indifferent to the decision taken by the lower house of parliament, adopting a bill authorizing the president of the republic to proceed to the increase in Cameroon’s debt of some 700 billion CFA francs.
This means that the country’s debt which at the time of the adoption of the Finance Law 2017 in December 2016 was CFAF 1 billion for the current year, now stands at CFAF 1,700 billion- a situation painted by the MP as a real scandal.
Hon. Jean Michel further described Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey as being consistently inconsistent and added that the Finance Minister has failed. In his view, the severe crisis in Cameroon is linked to the inadequacy of structural reforms and poor economic choices, all of which are crowned by many tricks often orchestrated and even maintained by the regime in place.
