Yaounde deploy troops to the Central African Republic
The Biya regime has deployed 1030 troops to the Central African Republic in a ceremony presided over by the Minister of Defense, Joseph Beti Assomo on Saturday in Yaounde. The 1030 servicemen composed of gendarmes and soldiers from the Rapid Intervention Battalion under the command of Colonel Ekwaigen Michael.
The youthful Francophone defense minister observed in a political speech aimed at Southern Cameroons activists in Canada during the ceremony that “You owe your behaviour to honour the flag and standards of Cameroon. This flag is sacred and reminds every citizen of his or her real civic responsibility.”
Joseph Beti Assomo said that cohabitation with troops and security forces from other countries should in no way dissolve their Cameroun identity. The defense boss further appealed to the soldiers to avoid being contaminated by practices contrary to those of the Cameroonian army. “Stay disciplined, united, and prudent. Listen to your leaders, “he instructed.
