Women’s AFCON 2016: FECAFOOT and Tombi Sidiki are moving towards greater transparency
The Indomitable Lionesses and their technical staff are now aware of the amounts they will be awarded if they win the 10th edition of the African Women’s Football tournament hosted in Cameroon from the 19th of November to the 3rd of December 2016.
A meeting between the players and the authorities for this purpose was held on Monday the 14th of November at the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education. The ladies were told that if they come out as champions, each member of the team will receive the sum of 24 475 000 FCFA. Cameroon Intelligence Report learned that the information was communicated by the President of FECAFOOT, Sidiki Tombi a Roko. The FECAFOOT boss hinted that the said amount included participation and qualifying bonuses.
Correspondingly, each player will receive 500,000 FCFA in participation bonuses. The Lionesses will receive a 4 million FCFA representing the qualification bonuses. These two premiums will be made available to the players today. In case of qualification for the second round, each of the 21 girls selected for the competition will receive 5 million FCFA.
The players will be paid an additional 8 million FCFA if they get to the final. And if they win the trophy, each player will have 10 million FCFA making it a total of 27,500,000 FCFA for each of the Lionesses. According to Cameroon finance law, a tax of 11% will be deducted from this sum. This will bring it to CFAF 24,475,000. Coach Carl Enow Ngachu will receive 48,950,000 FCFA. By communicating these figures, the authorities want to avoid strike actions known in the past around bonuses after or before international competitions.
