Wife of Ghanaian International Michael Essien buys a third-division club in Italy
The wife of Ghanaian international Michael Essien, Akosua Puni, has bought a third-division club, Calcio Como in Italy. A statement published on the club’s website announced that the club now belongs to Mrs. Essien and will now bear the name of FC Como.
Details of the press release also revealed that Mrs Puni Essien and her team will soon be in Como to meet fans and supporters of the Club and that she is honored to be part of a club that has 110 years of history.
Mrs. Puni Essien, a British of Ghanaian origin, bought the club for 237 000 Euros at an auction. The price does not include the Calcio Como training center. Club Como was relegated last season to League B and is currently in seventh place in the playoffs.
