Where is General Ivo Yenwo?
It is rumored in Yaoundé that the whereabouts of General Ivo Yenwo are unknown. The family of the Anglophone army general with strong ties to the Biya regime has not commented following persistent under-the-table talks circulating in Yaoundé, the nation’s capital.
Information had filtered that General Ivo was being prevented from leaving Yaoundé and had been removed from his position of command inside the presidency of the republic. Nothing has been heard of him ever since the Anglophone uprising and close friends have been quoted as saying it is long since he visited his social areas in Yaoundé.
General Ivo Yenwo had played a similar role now accorded to General Elokobi Daniel Njock. Cameroon Intelligence Report understands it was he who emptied the A.N.Jua archives in Buea and transported everything to Yaoundé in a process that was anti Southern Cameroons establishments.
While some reports said the Biya acolyte is simply enjoying his silence and unofficial source reported that he may be having health issues. “We know nothing about him since the Southern Cameroons revolution started” a family friend hinted our Yaoundé city reporter.
Our chief intelligence officer confirmed that General Ivo Yenwo was not part of a recent meeting chaired by Defense Minister Joseph Beti Assomo that gave the green light for a military onslaught in West Cameroon. No one in Yaoundé can confirm his present location.
Ivo Yenwo is regarded as one of the strongest Biya associates in the Cameroon army and the silent force behind the unprecedented crackdown in Southern Cameroons.
