UN seeks 300 million dollars for humanitarian assistance in Cameroon
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs has launched Cameroon’s 2018 Humanitarian Response Plan, which is seeking 304.5 million U.S. dollars, said a UN spokesman on Friday.
Some 3.3 million people are in need of emergency assistance in the African country, representing a 14 percent increase compared to last year, spokesman Farhan Haq told a daily news briefing.
The humanitarian situation in Cameroon is characterized by the impact of three crises: growing insecurity in the Lake Chad Basin region, the conflict in the Central African Republic, and a significant increase in food insecurity, malnutrition and epidemics, said Haq.
