Two-day cancer screening campaign begins in Yaounde
The Yaoundé University Teaching Hospital has launched a two-day screening campaign for breast and cervical cancer. The campaign which started today the 7th of December, 2016 has been organized to create awareness and mobilize women especially those above 25 years.
To illustrate the theme which is “Prevention is better than cure”, gynecologists at the Yaoundé University Teaching Hospital say cervical cancer is the leading cancer among women while breast cancer is also very common.
Statistics indicates that approximately 2000 new cases of breast cancer and 1700 new cases of cervical cancer are detected in Cameroon every year; a situation medics say could be avoided through regular screening. The organizers of the operation are targeting more than 300 women at the end of the two-day campaign.
