Turkish and Italian companies to construct the Douala-Japoma and Yaounde-Olembe stadiums
A Turkish company, Yenigün Construction has won the bid to build the Douala-Japoma stadium while an Italian company, Piccini will construct the 60,000 capacity Olembe Stadium in Yaounde. The 60,000 capacity stadiums in Douala and that of Yaounde are to be constructed in line with Cameroon’s preparations to host the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Cameroon Intelligence Report gathered from government sources that the two infrastructures will cost an estimated FCFA166 billion to be financed by Eximbank Turkey. The Japoma stadium in Douala will have two training pitches with bleachers, an open gymnasium of 2,000 seats, an Olympic swimming pool of 8 lanes and 1,000 seats. Sodevi International, a Canadian consortium has expressed its interest rehabilitating the Garoua and Douala stadia.
