Trump invites ‘loser’ Hillary Clinton to run again in 2020
US President Donald Trump has invited Hillary Clinton, his Democratic rival in the 2016 presidential election, to try again in 2020. In a tweeted message on Saturday, Trump said, “Crooked Hillary Clinton is the worst (and biggest) loser of all time. She just can’t stop, which is so good for the Republican Party. Hillary, get on with your life and give it another try in three years!”
In response, the former secretary of state described Trump as “obsessed” with her. She made the remarks in an appearance alongside her husband, former President Bill Clinton, at a forum in Little Rock, Arkansas.
“Apparently, you know, my former opponent is obsessed with my speaking out,” she said at the event held to commemorate the 25th anniversary of her husband’s election.
“Apparently there was another, somebody told me, tweet today. Honestly, between tweeting and golfing, how does he get anything done? I don’t understand it. Maybe that’s the whole point.”
The former first lady also said she would not be silenced and will “keep speaking out.”
Trump stunned the world on November 8, 2016 by defeating Clinton, sending the United States on a new and uncertain path.
Clinton had been leading Trump throughout the campaign in most of the polls except for the last week of the election when she lost ground to Trump.
In her recent interviews, Clinton has admitted that she is not entirely done with the election and still wonders why she lost to Trump.
“I’ll always feel terrible that it happened, that I couldn’t figure out how to counter all of the stuff that was coming at me in good enough, fast enough real time,” she told USA TODAY in September.
In another interview with CBS News, she conceded that she might have “missed a few chances” to connect with voters and counterattack Trump during the campaign.
Clinton has, on numerous occasions, blamed Russia for losing the election to Trump, claiming that Moscow had colluded with her rival. The allegations, however, have been repeatedly denied by both Trump and Russia.
