The trial of Amadou Vamoulke, former general manager of the Cameroon Radio and Television has finally opened in Yaoundé. Vamoulke pleaded not guilty on Monday at the Special Criminal Court in the case that also involves Prof. Gervais Mendo Ze former cabinet minister and onetime GM of the state owned radio and television.

Amadou Vamoulke was appointed to head the Cameroon radio and television (Crtv) in January 2005 and was replaced on the 29th of June 2016 after 11 years as general manager.

Arrested Friday, July 29, 2016, one month after his dismissal, the former head of the Crtv was charged with alleged embezzlement of public funds with his former boss, Gervais Mendo Ze. The department of Justice also accused him of alleged misappropriation estimated at more than CFAF 3.2 billion.

After a year in police drag net, the Amadou Vamoulke trial commenced on Monday at the Special Criminal Court. We gathered that a list bearing the names of his witnesses was rejected before the proceedings even started.
