The continuing fight against Boko Haram: CPDM MP donates to Vigilante Groups
A CPDM parliamentarian has donated a consignment of working equipment to Vigilante committees in the North Region. The MP did not say whether the materials were acquired using budgetary allocations for micro projects or from his private pocket. However, jackets, whistles, touch lights; badges and batteries were handed by the Member of Parliament for Benoue North and East Alioum Fadil to all 86 members of the committees.
During the handing over ceremony, the CPDM MP showered praises on the group for work done in the fight against the Nigerian Islamic sect, Boko Haram. The Assistant Senior Divisional Officer for Benoue, Emmanuel Nkulu Eva, who represented the Yaoundé regime at the ceremony, applauded efforts made by the various committees and in a typical CPDM style, praised the donor for what he described as “the timely offer.”
The First Assistant SDO said the security challenges faced by the population is not only limited to the Boko Haram incursions. He pointed out that crimes including armed robbery, kidnapping and cattle theft are also on the rise in the area. Representatives of the Vigilante groups all reaffirmed their commitment to rally behind government to protect Cameroonians and their property.
