Students block Barcelona motorways to protest Catalan arrests
Hundreds of students from the University of Barcelona blocked the city’s central motorways including AP-7 and B-30 on Friday (3 Nov. 2017), to protest against the imprisonment of former Catalan government vice-president Oriol Junqueras and seven other former Generalitat counsellors.
Protesters blocked and disturbed traffic, triggering arguments between protesters and a motorcyclist, with the latter being seemingly unhappy as he directed the loud rumble of his motorbike’s at protesters.
On Thursday, Spanish National Court ordered to keep Junqueras, as well as the seven other former Generalitat counsellors, in custody. Meanwhile, a European arrest warrant is also expected to be issued for former Catalan President Carles Puigdemont.
