Samuel Nlend Affair: FIFA orders Egyptian club to pay compensation
Union Sports de Douala has announced on its Facebook page that the world football governing body, FIFA has ordered the Egyptian club Al Ittihad to pay the player Samuel Nlend the sum of 440, 000 US dollars for wrongful termination of a contract.
The Union statement said “FIFA has just condemned the Alexandria based club to pay an indemnity of 440,000 US Dollars (about 247 million CFA francs).”
The story dates back to August 2016, when the Cameroonian striker signed a three years contract with Al Ittihad of Alexandria and after some few days, the Egyptian club cancelled the agreement, claiming the player had HIV.
The matter was referred to FIFA as the player had successfully passed a medical before signing the contract. Samuel Nlend, accompanied by the coach of Union, returned to Cameroon defeated and Nlend was reintegrated into the ranks of Union.
