Russia 2018: Indomitable Lions ‘hijacks’ Super Eagles hotel in Uyo
The Nigerian Football Federation, NFF have been thrown into serious panic after checks showed that the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have already booked their choice rooms and floors at Le Meridian Ibom, the usual hotel of the Super Eagles in Uyo.
That may well explain a hurried courtesy visit by an NFF delegation led by president Amaju Pinnick to the Akwa Ibom Governor Udom Emmanuel yesterday. Nigeria welcome Cameroon to Uyo on September 1 with the second qualifier in Yaounde three days later. “Cameroon mean business for the World Cup as they have already secured and paid for their reservations at Le Meridian Ibom.”
“It’s like they have ‘hijacked’ the hotel. “This has really set the alarm bells ringing at the NFF. “They are far from happy with this latest development.” The sprawling hotel has been the main training base of the Eagles for their international games since Gernot Rohr took over the team last year.
It is not known if the NFF have already arranged their logistics in Yaoundé ahead of the second qualifier on September 4. Nigeria lead their 2018 World Cup qualifying group with six points after they beat Zambia and Algeria last year, while Cameroon are second on two points following draws with those two teams.
