Rio 2016: Prime Minister Philemon Yang performs national flag ritual
The national flag has been handed to members of the Olympic team that will represent Cameroon during the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil. The Prime Minister, Head of Government – Philemon Yang handed over the Olympic baton to Cameroon’s flag bearers at the Olympic Games during a ceremony at the esplanade of the National Olympic and Sports Committee in Yaounde.
All the athletes who qualified for the expedition, except the volley ball ladies currently in camp in Brazil, were present to get the blessings of the nation before they travel to Brazil. The sports men and women including officials who are part of the delegation where all dressed in grassfield traditional regalia depicting Cameroon`s unique cultural heritage. Determined and engaged the Cameroon Olympic team hopes to win medals in Rio de Jenaro to add to the five Olympic medals the nation has won so far.
