Reports in France claim Birmingham City had interest in Captain Moukandjo
Lorient striker Benjamin Moukandjo has resisted interest from Birmingham City according to reports in France. Respected website Football France claims Harry Redknapp was interested in bringing Moukandjo to St Andrew’s but also says the 28-year-old does not want to move to England.
They say the Cameroon international has ‘other avenues’ following his current team’s relegation from Ligue 1. However, despite Lorient’s demise Moukandjo was credited with a creditable season in which he scored 13 goals in 25 games.
Moukandjo is an established international and was named man of the match as Cameroon won the Africa Cup of Nations in February. He has recently been on duty in the Confederations Cup.
Moukandjo seems destined to leave Lorient and has already been connected with several other clubs so far this summer, including West Ham, Crystal Palace, Bursaspor and Fenerbahce.
