Qatar reveals design of its 7th World Cup stadium
Qatar unveiled the design for its Ras Abu Aboud stadium in the capital Doha, saying it will be the first stadium of its kind that would be fully dismountable and reusable after the World Cup.
Hassan al Thawadi, the secretary-general for the 2022 World Cup’s Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, said Qatar values sustainability and a legacy that sees the cost of hosting the World Cup benefit others long after the showcase event has ended.
The 40,000-seater stadium will be built using shipping containers on the Doha waterfront and is due for completion at the end of 2020.
