National Assembly Fire: Biya Francophone government opens investigation
An investigation is under way after the main parliament building in Cameroon’s capital Yaoundé was badly damaged by a fire which ripped through four floors.
Firefighters put out the blaze before it could reach the debating chamber. But the main opposition party’s offices were destroyed.
The timing of the fire is raising some eyebrows as it happened less than two days after lawmakers from Cameroon’s main opposition party, the SDF, announced they would boycott the ongoing session of parliament as attacks continue in Southern Cameroons.
