La Republique: MPs, Senators to begin second regular session
National Assembly speaker and the leader of the so-called House of Senate respectively the second and third personalities of La Republique du Cameroun have signed two separate communiqués summoning MPs and Senators to a new parliamentary session.
The first press release issued on Friday the 2nd of June 2017 by Cavaye Yeguié Djibril, President of the National Assembly, called on MPs to return to the nation’s capital for the second regular session of the legislative year 2017, on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 11 am.
The second statement bearing the signature of Marcel Niat Njifendji, the President of the Senate informed Senators that the second ordinary session of the Upper House will begin on the same Thursday, June 08 from 4 pm. The Parliamentarians will resume service two months after the closure of the first regular session that held from March 13 to April 11, 2017.
The Francophone dominated ruling CPDM party has 148 MPs in the National Assembly, 18 for the SDF, 5 for the UNDP, 4 for the UDC, 3 for the UPC, 1 for the MDR and 1 for the RCM. Honorable Madjlé the MP from the Mayo-Kani North constituency in the Far North Region who died last month will of course not be present.
