Judge ignores National Assembly Speaker Cavaye Djibril, Releases detained bodyguard
The diabolic harsh ploy concocted by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djribil against his former bodyguard, Captain Bouba Simala has turned out an embarrassment after a judge at the Yaounde military tribunal ordered his immediate release. Cameroon Intelligence Report gathered that the decision that was made public on Wednesday the 8th of February 2017 has left the President Biya acolyte disillusioned.
The Cavaye-Captain Bouba affair dates back to June 2015. Cameroon’s third personality according to state protocol who has been the head of the National Assembly for 25 years, filed a complaint against his nephew and bodyguard, gendarmerie captain Bouba Simala, for attempted kidnapping, act of terrorism and robbery.
According to revelations gotten from police investigation, the aide-de-camp to the Speaker reportedly directed Boko Haram militants to a location where his boss was hiding following a surprised attack by the Nigerian Islamic sect.
After 18 months spent behind bars, Judge Ngo Ngue, reclassified the facts and granted provisional release to Captain Bouba Simala. In a country where justice is regularly under the control of those in power, the release of a man pursued by the powerful president of the national assembly is indeed an act of defiance in the face of political authority.
