Indomitable Lions: Massing Benjamin dies aged 55
Massing Benjamin who recorded an amazing performance with the Indomitable Lions during the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy has passed away at his home in Edea, the chief town in the Sanaga-Maritime Division in the Littoral.
Massing Benjamin died today Sunday, December 10, 2017. Cameroon Intelligence Report gathered from family sources that he was apparently healthy, performed his daily routines and was preparing to travel to Douala following an invitation from Equinoxe television. “While we thought he was getting ready, to make the journey to Douala we were surprised to see him lying on the ground. It was over,” says a relative of the deceased.
Aged 55, Benjamin Massing was a father of eight. The world of football will remember him as a talented defender who was particularly rough, physical and tough on his opponents. The world came to know him during the finals of the World Cup Italy 90. In the opening match Cameroon against Argentina, Benjamin Massing neutralized the famous Argentine striker Diego Maradona and earned a red card after a duel against striker Claudio Caniggia.
During his long football career, Benjamin Massing played for Cammark Bamenda, Olympique de Mvolye, Diamant de Yaoundé and US Créteil in France.
