Ghost town: Bamenda traders defy Government Delegate’s order
Despite the threats made by the corrupt government delegate to the Bamenda City Council, Vincent Nji Ndumu, traders in the much respected Southern Cameroons county have kept their shops closed. Cameroon Intelligence Report gathered that the Ndumu ultimatum actually came from Minister Paul Atanga Nji with whom Ndumu has a long standing fraudulent relationship.
Last Saturday, the government delegate, Vincent Nji Ndumu, urged merchants in the Bamenda County to open their shops by Monday, 28 August. The Francophone surrogate issued a warning against those who failed to comply with the government directives. Some of the traders feel that the closure is even better than opening and facing a fire which has been the devastating effect recorded throughout Southern Cameroons.
Government sources recently hinted Cameroon Intelligence Report that traders have not been able to overcome their fear and the anguish of seeing their livelihood reduced to ashes by Southern Cameroons militants. Ghost towns are being respected all over Southern Cameroons territory launched by the Southern Cameroons Governing Council and the Cameroon Anglophone Civil Society Consortium.
