Marafa Hamidou Yaya has reportedly had an eye operation at a Yaounde military hospital. Cameroon Intelligence Report learned that the former Minister of State and former Secretary General at the Presidency of the Republic was operated by a French doctor hired by his family.

Our informant revealed that the surgery was carried out successfully. Arrested in 2012, Marafa Hamidou Yaya Marafa was sentenced to 25 years in prison for complicity and intellectual diversion of public money in the case of the presidential plane, in co-perpetration with Michel Fotso, former general manager of the national airline, Camair -Co. The UN and the US State Department have painted him as a political prisoner.
