French Cameroun: Like Humpty Dumpty, Colonel Kalkaba takes a big fall
Francophone Cameroonians no longer have the luxury of heading continental sports bodies. After the humiliating defeat of Issa Hayatou by Malagasy Ahmad Ahmad, for the control of the African Football Confederation, CAF, Colonel Hamad Kalkaba Malboum was recently disqualified from the race to the presidency of the Association of Olympic committees Of Africa (ACNOA).
Cameroon Intelligence Report gathered that Colonel Kalkaba’s candidacy was disqualified for ethical reasons. Kalkaba Malboum was accused of using financial resources provided by the Biya Francophone regime.
The current president of the African Athletics Confederation, 66, reportedly adopted the CPDM style in Cameroon, where embezzlement of public funds for personal purposes is a common practice by rulers who are not accountable to anyone.
Yaoundé went the extra mile in its direct involvement in the election of the president of ACNOA and eventually created a conflict among the various national Olympic committees. Consequently, the president of the African Athletics Confederation is in the limelight and suspended from all activities within the Olympic movement in Africa.
