French Cameroun gendarme killed in Jakiri
There are reports that Southern Cameroons activists used the weapon of a French Cameroun gendamerie officer to shoot him when he was deployed to disperse young people who were disrupting classes at a high school.
CIR gathered the incident happened on Monday, November 6, 2017 in the Jakiri locality in Bui County. French Cameroun administrative authorities have confirmed the killing of the security agent and revealed that violent confrontation emerged between Ambazonian activists and the local gendarmerie officers.
The regime in Yaounde has also reported that masked men who wanted to enforce ghost town operations burst into Jakiri Bilingual High School around 1 pm to chase away students and teachers.
“Major Constable Djounia, who was on guard at the High School, chased these activists into the bush and it was there that he was ambushed. They snatched his gun and shot him down before escaping into the forest with the rifle” said a police officer. The victim was on duty in French Cameroun but detached a few days ago in Ambazonia to strengthen the forces on the ground.
It should be recalled that Jakiri Bilingual High School was burned over the weekend by unidentified armed men. Four schools were burned last week by activists who want school gates to remain closed.
