An emergency meeting grouping Blaise Moussa and Tombi A Roko, general secretary and president of the Cameroonian Football Federation and Hugo Broos held in the Ministry of Sports on Tuesday 4 April 2017. On the night of Tuesday, March 28, 2017, after the friendly against Guinea, Hugo Broos said he was seriously thinking about his future. The next day, he had a one-on-one with Tombi A Roko, the president of the Cameroon Football Federation. President Tombi proposed to Hugo Broos an extension of his contract for at least a year. The FECAFOOT boss whose presidency is still being contested also informed Broos of the possibility of a salary increment.
Hugo Broos said he could not renew his contract in the current context. He appealed to the Cameroonian football boss that the debate on the subject be postponed.
