France continues to strengthen the French Cameroon military amid tensions with Anglophones
France has once again donated tactical vehicles to the predominantly Francophone Cameroon armed forces. The military vehicles were given under the pretext of fighting the Nigerian Islamic sect, Boko Haram.
The French war package which has often been used against British Southern Cameroons civilian population was handed over to the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Joseph Beti Assomo, by the French Ambassador to Cameroon Gilles Thibault. The donation consist of; ten tactical vehicles and five transport trucks, including an equipped sanitary unit.
The vehicles are equipped with weapons and transmission equipment and are accompanied with precision rifles, helmets and bullet-proof vests. The military equipment worth some FCFA 430 million to be further transmitted to the Cameroonian army special units was donated on Tuesday 29th November 2016.
The gift according to both officials will reinforce the bilateral Franco-Cameroonian military cooperation. France is one of the main actors in the combat against Boko Haram that has greatly affected Nigeria, Cameroon and the other countries of the Lake Chad Basin.
