Four killed in road accident in French Cameroun
At least four people died on Wednesday morning after a car carrying them collided with a truck in Cameroon’s Littoral region, police said.
The accident took place in Mbanga town, about 71 km Southwest of Douala, the capital city of Littoral region.
“The car collided head-on with the truck that was loaded with building material, resulting in the death of some passengers. About 12 persons critically injured in the accident were transferred to a nearby hospital,” a police official said.
The car was damaged beyond repairs according to witnesses.
The driver of the truck who survived the accident has been put in custody.
Deadly road accidents in Cameroon are usually caused by reckless driving, bad road conditions and overloading according to the Ministry of Transport.
