Do our North West Fons live in the Real World?
Members of the North West Fons Union, NOWEFU, have called on the 84 year old President Paul Biya to stand as candidate for the Cameroon Peoples Democratic Movement, CPDM, in the 2018 Presidential elections. The Post newspaper reported that the appeal was contained in two motions of support addressed to the Head of State on May 5, 2017 during the Executive Committee meeting of NOWEFU that held in Bamenda.
In the documents, the Fons through their President Fon Teche congratulated the President Paul Biya for creating the National Commission for the promotion of Bilingualism and Multiculturalism and for appointing Cornelius CHI as the scribe of the Commission.
The traditional rulers also lauded efforts made by the Head of State for the approach he has been taking so far to solve the Anglophone problem and promised that they will take the bulls by the horns and force parents to send their children to school. The Fons called on government to take drastic measures to punish teachers who do not go to school to teach the few pupils and students present.
Present during the meeting were Director of cabinet at the Prime Minister’s office Prof Paul Goghomo Mingo and Minister in Charge of supreme State Audit, Mbah Acha Rose who used the occasion to enumerate a number of issues resolved by the government which according to them should have pushed the striking denizens to put down their tools and maintain peace and unity.
