CPDM-Francophone GCE: Biya regime orders timetable shake-up to accommodate Ramadan festival
President Biya has declared tomorrow Monday June 26, 2017 a public holiday due to the Ramadan festival and by extrapolation, suspending all the sessions of the scandalous General Certificate Examination 2017 scheduled for Monday. The Biya decree has added more confusion and frustration to an already nasty situation in Southern Cameroons and has made it the GCE’s most chaotic and unfair year.
The Yaoundé regime had postponed this year’s GCE exams several times because of the Anglophone crisis. The Biya Francophone Beti Ewondo regime however settled down on staging the examination with thugs and members of the military participating as students.
Immediately after the presidential decree was made public, the Francophone Minister of Secondary Education also issued a ministerial order stating that due to the celebration of the Ramadan, all the GCE board events scheduled on Monday, June 26, 2017 have been moved to Saturday, July 01, 2017. The French statement also noted that the events slated from Tuesday the 27th of June to Friday the 30th of June 2017 remain unchanged.
