Conflicting Francophone Diaspora forums to hold in Yaounde and Ouagadougou
Several Cameroonians from abroad have chosen Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso to host an International Forum of the Cameroonian Diaspora, which will take place from the 25th to 27th of May 2017. Cameroon Intelligence Report gathered that the theme of the forum is mobilization of the Cameroonian Diaspora for a lasting contribution to the rebirth of Cameroon.
The Chairman of the organizing committee of the event, Jean Genestar Priso, said: “It is a matter of bringing the Cameroonian Diaspora together to make a coordinated contribution to the emergence of a free, democratic and prosperous Cameroonian state.
The forum in Ouagadougou is expected to lead to the establishment of a structure that will coordinate the socio-political initiatives of the Diaspora. CIR’s Chi Prudence Asong opined that the Ougadougou event is positioned as a counter forum of the Biya government led Diaspora meeting that will be organized from the 28th to 30rd of June 2017, in Yaoundé.
The meeting in Yaoundé will be holding under the theme “Cameroon and its Diaspora: Working Together for the Development of the Nation”. The Minister of External Relations said that the Yaounde forum is to “open to all Cameroonians wanting to invest in health, ICT, green economy and finance”.
