Combating Boko Haram: Far North Governor chairs important security meeting
Following the very recent Boko Haram attack during which one civilian and two suicide bombers died on Monday 24 October 2016 in the Mayo Sava Division, the Governor of Far North Region, Midjiyawa Bakari has chaired an important security meeting.
The meeting was attended among others by two top military officials, General Bouba Dobekréo, Commander of the first sector of the Joint Multinational task force and Brigadier General Jacob Kodji, Commander of the fourth military region, custom officers, elements of the road safety task force of the national gendarmerie, representatives of vigilante groups and business persons who trade along the borders between Cameroon and Nigeria.
On the occasion, each of the actors discussed possible security lapses that could have accounted for the suicide bombers infiltrating the population. They all resolved to close in ranks and keep a keener eye on the Boko Haram group members and other nefarious terrorist groups.
The Governor of the region saluted the commitment of each of the actors in charge of reinforcing security in the region. Governor Midjiyawa Bakari once again encouraged security groups and the vigilante not to give in to any form of intimidation but be proactive to report any suspected activity in their area.
