Chadian Leader meets President Ali Bongo in Libreville
President Idriss Deby of Chad has praised his Gabonese counterpart Ali Bongo over his handling of the post election violence that rocked the country. The Chadian leader who is the current Chairman of the African Union made a stop in Libreville from Luanda to congratulate the Gabonese chief executive for his re-election.
Our correspondent in Libreville reported that the visit was not planned as the Chadian leader was returning from Luanda where he was attending a summit on security and peace in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Great Lakes region. Idriss Deby simply benefited from a pit stop in Libreville and met with Ali Bongo.
The Chadian president revealed he was satisfied that calm has returned to Gabon and welcomed the initiative taken by Ali Bongo to convene a national dialogue to reconcile the Gabonese people.
