Patients strike at the Yaounde General Hospital as the priviledged are evacuated to France
The massive police presence at the Yaounde General Hospital early today Monday the 10th of October 2016 was indication of an abnormality around the hospital. Patients with renal problems have begun a seat down strike in front of the Yaounde General Hospital.
The patients are decrying the fact that they have gone for months without haemodialysis treatment due to lack of machines. Only seven of the 20 machines of the haemodialysis centre are working for over 300 patients.
The room for the oxygenated water needed for dialysis is down as well. Most of the patients say they lack the means to carry out the specialised treatment in private or foreign hospitals.
