Cameroun Football: FIFA summons warring Francophone factions
The International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) has convened a meeting in Zurich on the 8th of June grouping all the Francophone protagonists of Cameroonian football. The FIFA list includes the controversial legendary goalkeeper, Bell Joseph Antoine, Nkou Mvondo, Abdouramane and a host of other Cameroonian football players, acting on behalf of the clubs they run, all opposed to Tombi A Roko, the current president of the Cameroonian Football Federation.
Those invited have been disputing the regularity of the electoral process which led to the election of Tombi a Roko, at the head of the Cameroon Football Federation, Fecafoot. Cameroon Intelligence Report understands FIFA intends to mediate and negotiate some kind of a rapprochement between the two Francophone camps now at daggers-drawn positions.
FIFA summoning has come less than a month after the first hearings on The Fecafoot case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Tas) in Swiss. It should be noted that this move has also come after the departure of Issa Hayatou from CAF. The former president of CAF had all along supported the corrupt Cameroonian authorities.
