Cameroon to assemble cars for local consumption
Cameroon will be able to assemble cars for local consumption and markets in the Central African region. The CPDM government say it is encouraging the initiative as a means of ensuring the quality if cars that ply the roads in Cameroon.
The Minister of Mines, Industries and Technological Development, Ernest Gbwaboubou visited the construction site the car plant on Thursday the 13th of October 2016 and observed with satisfaction the level of advancement of work currently going on at the site.
Minister Ernest Gbwaboubou was briefed by technicians from Matgenie and the foreign firm sponsoring the project. The first phase expected to be delivered within a four month time frame has already witnessed huge success in the execution rate.
The 27 hectare car assembly factory has been set up in Bonaberi by the Indian Subsidiary, Cameroon Automobile Industry Company,CAIC. The government and CAIC signed the deal for projects in Douala and Kribi on the 11th of June 2015.
