Cameroon Bar Council crisis deepens as Assistant Secretary General resigns
The Deputy Secretary-General of the Bar Association of Cameroon has resigned his post. Barrister Nong Zih Anthony made the decision public on Friday and added that he remains a member of the council.
The learned man of law also revealed that he was marginalized and relegated to the role of a simple translator. His resignation comes in a context of serious crisis that has rocked the bar. Indeed, for several weeks, the lawyers of the Anglophone part of the country have started an unlimited strike punctuated by the boycott of the courtrooms.
Cameroon Common Law Lawyers have ordered the CPDM regime to translate with immediate effect the OHADA Treaty and the application of the Common Law in respect of the bi-judicial system corollary to bilingualism.
