Cameroon arrest former deputy general manager, 3 senior executives of BICEC Bank
The former deputy general manager and three senior executives of the Banque Internationale pour le Commerce, l’Epargne et le Crédit du Cameroun (Bicec) were arrested late yesterday Monday the 8th of August 2016 and remanded in custody in the New-Bell-Bell Central prison in Douala.
Innocent Ondoa Nkou, Ngando Mbongue, head of the accounting department, Martin Nyamsi and Ekoka Benoit are all being held at the New Bell prison. Our chief intelligence officer in the Littoral region was reliably informed that they were summoned to the office of the state counsel and after very intensive interrogation they were placed in custody. According to our source, they were taken to the New Bell prison, shortly after 17 pm on Monday.
For several months, they were under an internal investigation related to accounting inconsistencies and the diversion of an estimated 3 billion FCFA. They were accused of fraud in the acquisition or purchase of assets belonging to the bank. We are keeping a watchful eye on this developing story and Cameroon Intelligence Report will keep our readers posted.
