Biya appoints late President Ahidjo’s daughter as Director of the Congress Hall in Yaounde
The President of the Republic, Paul Biya, signed on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, a decree appointing Aminatou Ahidjo, Director of the Congress in Yaoundé, with benefits in kind provided for by the regulations in force, stated in Article 2 of Presidential text.
Against the advice of her mother, Germaine Ahidjo in exile in Senegal, where the late President Ahmadou Ahidjo, the first Head of State of Cameroon was buried after his death in 1989, Aminatou Ahidjo had decided, on her official return to Cameroon to join against all odds in 2013 the ranks of the CPDM, the political party of Paul Biya, successor and nemesis of the Ahidjo family.
Her action was interpreted as a form of betrayal. She lobbied for a ministerial job and failed in her October 2, 2015 cabinet reshuffle bid. The CPDM Congress Hall is an impressive infrastructure for the organization of events in Yaounde.
