The Steering Committee of the Cameroon Anglophone Civil Society Consortium, CACSC, is demanding a return to federalism through a referendum or holding of a constitutional Conference. The body which is charged with proposing policy alternatives to improve on lives of Anglophones says a return to two state federations is the only solution to the co-existence of the two Cameroons and guaranteeing protection of rights, wellbeing culture of the two states.

While meeting in Buea Wednesday December 21, 2016 members saluted efforts made by Common Law Lawyers, Teachers and parents who have continued keeping their children at home, they urged parents to continue keeping their children at home until demands of Anglophones are met.

The Consortium frowned at the divide and rule tactics employed by the Government of Cameroon to divide the community of former West Cameroon and maintained that, “Government must understand that the people of former West Cameroon are one body and it cannot pretend to solve problems of teachers without solving that of lawyers, when both are inextricably linked.”

The Consortium has denounced what it described as “continuous abduction and kidnapping citizens of former West Cameroon to be tortured and killed in military camps in  Yaoundé.” In this regard, it has demanding the immediate release of all citizens of former West Cameroon arrested and detained in Bamenda and Kumba before any meaningful dialogue will take place.
