Amid FECAFOOT Crisis: Nigerian trainer rolls out plans for Cameroon double header
Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr, has revealed his plans for the Super Eagles’ double header Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier in Uyo and Yaoundé. Rohr revealed this much to AOIFootball.com in Abuja, shortly before the Super Eagles’ list was released on Tuesday night.
The Franco-German arrived at the FIFA Goal Project at around 7pm Nigerian time to meet with the head of the technical committee to vet the list before been released, the meeting lasted for close to an hour. After the meeting the Eagles coach defiled the rain and addressed the media on the team’s plans.
He said: “Every player is expected to arrive Abuja over the weekend with the exception of Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi who will playing on Sunday. They will join up with the team in Uyo on Monday latest.”
Rohr said the Chinese contingent (Mikel and Ighalo) are expected in the country before Friday as there are no games in the Chinese league over the weekend, while Chidozie Awaziem of Nantes FC in France is also expected in Abuja before Friday. The Nantes defender was sent off in a league game last week and will not be available for Nantes. The Eagles’ handler posited that the team will train for two or three days in Abuja before leaving for Uyo on Monday.
The team will train in Uyo on Monday evening with light training and recovering, while he hopes for a full house by Tuesday morning. The team will also train on Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of the game on Friday afternoon.
He further added that hopefully, the Super Eagles will win on Friday and the team will train on Saturday and then fly to Cameroon on Sunday ahead of the return leg on Monday in Yaoundé. Rohr assured Nigerians that the Eagles will not disappoint them, saying the players are very ready and will deliver Nigeria the maximum points in Uyo.
