Akere Muna tells adoring crowd in Douala “This country belongs to us all”
Barrister Akere Muna was acclaimed by more than a hundred motorcycle riders and other curious citizens at the end of a show hosted by Radio Equinoxe. The renowned lawyer was surprised today Thursday, October 26, 2017 in the morning when more than a hundred motorcycle and taxi drivers appeared in front of the Equinoxe building located at “Mobil Bonakouamouang” in the Akwa district to cheer him as a candidate for the 2018 presidential elections.
Cameroon Intelligence Report gathered the groups were mobilized by the popular French Cameroun activist, André Blaise Essama. The admirers of Akere camped for more than an hour at the scene and waited for their champion to finish the interview that they listened meticulously via a radio speaker hooked to a motorcycle.
The son of the late former Prime Minister and Speaker of the National Assembly, Solomon Tandeng Muna finally came down around 9 am surrounded by his bodyguards and other collaborators. He was warmly acclaimed with some chanting the word “president”.
The former president of the Cameroon Bar Association, who spent almost an hour and thirty minutes in the studios of Radio Equinoxe, spoke to this enthusiastic crowd, “Next year, everyone needs to register on the voters list, put your names on this list and then vote and open your eyes. Set up groups of 50 people each for us to discuss. As soon as it’s done, you call me, I will come home, we eat the miondos and ndolè and we exchange … Let no one frighten you, this country belongs to us all. Favoritism is over, next year, we will take the country together, thank you, “he said in pidgin English before performing with his countrymen the chorus of the national anthem of Cameroon.
After the unprecedented crowd bath, Barrister Akere Muna and his team boarded a black Land Cruiser and were escorted by a few motorcycle riders.
