African Union: Who the hell is Prof. Sarah Mbi Enow Anyang Agbor?
Sarah Mbi Enow Anyang Agbor is the new Commissioner for Human Resources, Science and Technology of the African Union. The 48-year old from Manyu Division, South West Region was elected on 30th June 2017.
Before her election, Sarah Mbi Enow was Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Research, Cooperation and Relations with the Business World, University of Bamenda since 2015. The mother of two is a holder of a PhD in English Literature, a Master of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Arts in Classic English, from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria.
Sarah Mbi Enow began as Senior Lecturer in the Department of English at the University of Yaounde 1, Cameroon in 2002. She has also been Associate Professor at the Universities of Maroua (2009 – 2012) and Yaounde 1 (2010 – 2016). She was later appointed Inspector of Academic Affairs at the Ministry of Higher Education (2013 – 2015).
She worked as National Focal Point for the Pan African University, the Conference of Ministers of Education in Africa (COMEDAF) and the Conference of Commonwealth Education Ministers (CCEM). She is author of three books and has a good mastery of English and French.
She says her immediate challenge include
– Accelerating the implementation of an AU strategy on education
– Addressing technological, infrastructural and energy challenges in the continent
– Reinforcing the synergy between the research world and the productive sector
– Encourage social inclusion and youth/female entrepreneurship for sustainable development.
Sarah Mbi Enow Anyang Agbor is married and a mother of two.
