Gunmen kidnapped the Deputy Ambassador of Sierra Leone in Abuja on Friday. Alfred Nelson-William was traveling by road to Kaduna some 200 km to the North to attend a military ceremony.

An investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of his abduction. Nigerian Kidnappers usually release the hostages after a few days or weeks, often against a ransom.

The abduction comes after that of two Indians kidnapped last week while traveling to work in Benue State, in the Center region
