Anglophone Roman Catholic Bishops say resumption of schools and calling off the strike depends on effective provision of a lasting solution to the crisis
The Bishops of the Bamenda Provincial Episcopal Conference (BAPEC) have reportedly met with Prime Minister Philemon Yang and the anti Anglophone Minister of Higher Education, Jacques Fame Ndongo. An email sent to our news desk in Dusseldorf in Germany revealed that the meeting took place on the 31st of January 2017.
The Anglophone Roman Catholic Bishops expressed their concerns about the current crisis situation in the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon. We gathered the religious leaders made proposals to the Biya Francophone Beti Ewondo government to reopen dialogue in the interest of getting a lasting solution to the Anglophone Problem.
The Bishops were particularly worried about the stalemate in the schools and in other areas of life and business in Southern Cameroons. However, they pointed out to the Prime Minister and the Minister of Higher Education that the resumption of schools and the calling off of the strike depend on the effective provision of a lasting solution to the crisis by Government, the decision of the Teachers’ Trade Union Leaders and the spontaneous collaboration of parents.
