Joseph Beti Assomo, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of defense and Lejeune Mbella Mbella, the minister for foreign affairs are in Bangui in the Central African Republic. The President Biya emissaries have reportedly met the Prime Minister of the Central African Republic. Cameroon Intelligence Report was reliably informed that Biya ordered both cabinet ministers to travel to Bangui following the numerous scandals that has rocked the contingent of Cameroonian soldiers in the UN peace keeping mission known as Minusca (United Nations Integrated Multidimensional Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic).

Cameroonian servicemen and women have been accused by the regime in Bangui of participating in the blood diamond trade and the sale of beer made in Cameroon deep within the Central African Republic. Joseph Beti Assomo and Lejeune Mbella Mbella, also held intensive discussions with the Central African Minister of Defense, the Central African Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diane Corner, the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary General in Minusca.

Cameroon state radio and television reported that security issues were the only items that furnished the many different meetings in Bangui.  Since August 2016, Cameroon has had a new contingent of 350 soldiers in the Central African Republic. Thanks to friendly countries like Cameroon, the Central African Republic is gradually emerging from a civil war triggered in 2013 following a coup that ended the regime of Michel Djotodia.
