Since Monday the 12^th of December 2016, all Camair-Co planes including those rented for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations are nailed to the ground.  The national airline’s company has eventually ceased operations but Transport Minister Edgar Alain Mebo Ngo’o and his gang won’t talk. Among the planes grounded are the two Chinese aircraft MA 60, the two Boeing 737-300 ERs (one of which is still stationed in South Africa) and the Boeing 767-200 ER (The Dja).

Some business experts specialized in the airline industry hinted that the company received 7.5 billion FCFA from the Cameroon government to facilitate the transportation of the various football teams and delegations that took part in the 2016 female Africa Cup of Nations. Camair-Co planes have all been grounded and the providers say payments must be made before the air crafts can get back to the skies. It has created an embarrassing situation and has forced hundreds of passengers to go to the Camair-Co Commercial Department in order to be reimbursed.

Our senior business reporter noted that “Camair-Co has been rescheduling flights until they can reschedule no more.”  The penalized passengers are numerous and the commercial management keeps confirming these flights cancellations.  The general manager has reportedly shied away from the headquarters of the company at the Rotonde building in Douala. And nobody wants to openly comment on the situation.

Cameroon Intelligence Report understands Camair-Co is paying the price of a CPDM political struggle for control of the 95 billion FCFA to be injected via a Boeing Plan and the tug-of-war involves only barons of the regime who hail from the South region.
