Cameroon government officials take part in rituals performed at the Eseka train disaster site
The people of the Nyong-et-Kelle Division in the Central region have revealed that their ancestors in search of human blood for sacrifices caused the intercity train 152 to derail which officials say killed 79 and wounded 600.
Correspondingly, some traditional leaders and other notables from the department of Nyong-et-Kelle, including Eseka organized on Sunday the 30th of October 2016 traditional rituals at the place of the accident to “appease” their ancestors.
Interestingly, around them were some prominent political figures of the ruling CPDM and the UPC opposition. The ceremony which was authorized by the administrative authorities witnessed the deployment of large numbers of security forces.
The celebrants, called “Mbombog” offered to the public a spectacular ceremony which was well attended by curious people who actually believed there was a mystical origin of the Eseka train disaster.
It was a kind of “purification” ceremony, based on the belief that the ancestors of this part of the country need more human blood. This is normal in a country where every man’s death often has a mystical explanation.
