Yaounde: Forum on fishing in the Gulf of Guinea opens
The 13th Ordinary session of the Regional Commission for fishing in the Gulf of Guinea has opened in Yaounde with experts focussing on drafting a regional fishing project.
The forum also aims at drawing up a manual for budgeting operations with the ultimate goal of stimulating growth within the sector.
According to projections, the project if properly implemented will create more jobs and increase revenue for the actors while guaranteeing quality nutrition for the population.
The atelier started with a vivid scrutiny of the problems hindering fish production in the continent and the rise and growth of the illegal fishing sector.
Committee members will be seeking lasting solutions to the problems within the sector which will include among others budgetary allocations from member states.
