Jacques Fame Ndongo, Minister of Higher Education has been quoted as saying; students will receive the computers promised by the Head of State between February and March 2017. Some observers have already opined that the ruling CPDM party was applying the logic of backpedalling judging from the fact that the distribution of the computers was originally scheduled for the month of October.

The wait may be long for all the students both in state-owned universities and other higher education institutions in the country.  The Ministry of Higher Education on the 27^th of July, reportedly signed an agreement called “e-National Higher Education” with the Chinese company Sichuan Telecom Construction Engeneering Co. Ltd. The said agreement was intended to extend the use of ICT by Cameroonian students from the 2016-2017 academic year.

The cost of the project estimated at CFAF 75 billion, has been described as a pharaonic debt granted by China Exim Bank to enable President Biya make available to some 500,000 Cameroonian students information technology support for stowage in the academic digital economy.
